Experience Off the Grid Living in this Fort Collins Yurt
If you live in Fort Collins or the surrounding areas, you're probably used to the hustle and bustle that we experience on the daily. For those who are in need of a chance to unplug and recharge, we have places like Lory State Park and Rocky Mountain National Park where we can easily escape to do so.
And if you're really looking for the opportunity to unwind and get away from it all, Airbnb offers a local yurt to stay in, for an authentic "off the grid" experience. Off grid living is all about being self-sustainable, using renewable energy and cutting ties to technology. It sounds rough for most of us, but maybe it's just the disconnect you need.
The traditional-style yurt is located right outside of Fort Collins in LaPorte, and is set on 35.5 acres with breathtaking views and access to a private lake. Paddle boards and kayaks are available by request.
Part of being off the grid, means that the yurt has no power. However, the hosts do provide guests with a portable charger, an oil lamp, candles, and battery powered strings of lights. The Mongolian wood stove keeps guests warm and cozy in the winter and there's an outdoor fire pit too.
Inside the yurt is a kitchenette that includes a two burner propane stove and out on the porch is a BBQ grill. The hosts provide spices, sugar, honey, tea, coffee, flour, oil, vinegar and 5 gallons of water. They also offer a big cooler and fire wood.
When it comes to sleeping arrangements, there's one queen bed, one couch and a hammock. As for a bathroom, it's just an outhouse.
Guests who have stayed at the yurt in the past describe it as being "cozy, comfortable, unique and romantic."
The yurt goes for $125/night. You can check the availability here.
