There is nothing more frustrating than sitting in traffic for hours on end. Those who commute from Northern Colorado to Denver every day for work know exactly what I am talking about.

Endless stop-and-go traffic and sitting on the interstate for seemingly no reason at all. Traffic is the worst. Denver is no stranger to terrible traffic, even on the weekends, but did you know that the Mile High City is one of the worst in the nation for rush hour traffic?

Traffic on Interstates 25 and 70 seems to be the worst in the proximity to downtown and the Denver Tech Center. It's kind of mind-boggling to think that the city of Denver is only a mere 153 square miles and the Denver Metro Area as a whole is 8,403 square miles. On any given day, Denver Metro Area traffic can get snarled up and cause hours of residual slowing of traffic.

I tend to avoid driving down to Denver as much as I can, but sometimes, I just cannot avoid it. What was once a metro area I used to love to drive through, I now loathe and become stressed out over the sheer amount of vehicles on the road and the seemingly crazy drivers that come with the territory.

Denver is one of the worst cities for rush-hour traffic

The injury lawyers at Bader Scott analyzed data from TomTom to see how many hours commuters spend in rush hour traffic and the average amount of time that Colorado commuters spend every week in their vehicles is shocking. On average, Colorado commuters driving in Denver spend around three hours per week commuting. While that might not seem like much time, compound those hours driving every week through the course of a year and Colorado commuters driving through the Denver Metro Area spend an average of 156 hours in their vehicles annually.

Denver, Colorado, ranked as the tenth worst city for rush hour traffic. The five worst cities for rush hour traffic are Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Fransisco, and the worst, New York City.
