D Dennison Can’t Stop Talking About the Traffic and Horribly Inconsiderate Drivers

There are a few things that get under my skin and drive me crazy. Driving, drivers and traffic are at the top of the list. If you have been my friend for a while, this doesn't come as a surprise to you.

The number one thing that I have noticed is that drivers just don't care about other drivers. I thought, once upon a time, that a blinker to get over into another lane meant something or if you were traveling along and noticed a driver trying to get out onto the roadway that you, when possible, shifted into another lane so that they could.

Or what about the new trend that has drivers blocking driveways and side streets? When I learned to drive-- and no, not a horse and buggy-- I was taught that I wasn't to block these areas.  Is that not the case anymore? And when did it become okay to drive around seemingly blindfolded?

You already know how I feel about the three to six people that run the left turn lane light. That apparently IS standard behavior without penalty. And then there's the person that waits till the last minute to merge in construction or with an accident blocking a lane.

On a final note, let's not forget about texting or even just being on the phone in general. It is a distraction, period! It is adding to the risk of fender benders and more serious accidents. Yes, I have seen drivers on I-25 texting... it's just not safe. When you are distracted, your guard is down and you are likely to make mistakes. Driving is tough enough without distractions.

Do I expect anything to happen on the roadways because of my ranting? Nope. I just have to rant from time to time.
