Everything seems to be going up in cost these days. Groceries, gas, rent, mortgage, bills, and any type of entertainment seem to be too expensive. The cost of living is getting insane, and many are having to make tough decisions on where to save money. One thing you should not get rid of is health insurance and having money for health care, in case you need it. Some states cost more for health care, and some make it more affordable, but which side of the fence does Colorado fall? Health care is something we all need, but it can make your wallet a lot lighter depending on where you live. Wallethub recently released a list ranking states that spend the most on health care to the least. It ranked the states by using the cost of health care as a share of median monthly household income. Alaska is the state that spends the most of of any state on health care, with Oregon being the second most expensive, and Maine rounding out the top three. The state that spends the least is Utah, with Virginia being the second lowest, and California surprisingly being in the bottom three. Where does Colorado fall on this list?

When it comes to health care in Colorado, living in the Centennial State may help you save some money. Colorado spends the sixth-lowest amount on health care. On average, Coloradoans spend about 6.05% on health care, compared to Alaska, which spends 10.08%. If you are looking to lower your health care costs, there are a few things you can do. The first thing to do is to get health insurance. The second thing you can do is budget and prepare for when something comes up. Make sure to live a healthy lifestyle, and that should help you not need as much care, and using an HSA can help out as well. Having a health savings account will allow you to put dollars away pre-taxed, which also lowers your taxable income.
