Colorado’s Neon Alley is a Hidden Treasure Worth Visiting
There's a magical place in southern Colorado, that lights up the night and is a hidden treasure within the historic city of Pueblo.
In an unassuming alley behind a row of restaurants in the heart of town, an attraction definitely worth visiting waits to be found. The unique destination is known as Neon Alley, and as its name suggests, it features a collection of vintage neon signs, tucked away behind Pueblo's lively local businesses.
The collection of signs is courtesy of Joe Koncilja. As an avid neon sign collector, Koncilja enlists the help of nearby sign restorers to repair the wall hangings back to their former glory. The rare, retro pieces are then put on display in the alley. Think of your dad's garage...but on steroids. There are currently more than 40 pieces of luminous art in the alley, but the collection of signs continues to grow. Koncilja hopes to one day have hundreds hanging in the downtown urban alleyway.
The neon wonderland creates an immersive experience for those walking through. The colorful signs are fun to look at during the day, but once the sun goes down, they become a real spectacle to be seen.
This interesting Pueblo destination has earned the designation of having the "greatest assembly of neon art west of Times Square and east of Las Vegas." From old motel and hotel signs to famous movie characters, food items, and beyond, the range of pieces to view is vast and entertaining.
Neon Alley is open day and night and admission is free. The best time to visit is after dark, but it can be fun to snap photos regardless of the time you go.
