
SLOW DOWN: Speed Cameras Coming to Colorado Highways Soon
We are starting to see more technology being used to combat speeding and other traffic infractions in Colorado.
For example, the city of Fort Collins installed speeding cameras at multiple intersections to issue tickets back in November 2024. Residents who violate the speed limit have photos taken of their vehicle, then a ticket is mailed to them.
Similar technology is going to be used to combat speeding issues in the state of Colorado. This technology will be used across the entire state.
Colorado's Dangerous Highways
You may not realize how dangerous our roads are in Colorado. Colorado’s highways are amongst the most dangerous in the nation.

U.S. Highway 297 is the most dangerous highway in the state of Colorado. In a span of five years, there have unfortunately been 15 fatalities as well as 116 major injuries.
Cameras Coming to Colorado Highways
Speeding is a major reason why there are so many accidents in Colorado.
Colorado Department of Transportation will be investing $5 million in speed cameras that will take photos of speeders in construction zones.

There is a lot of construction happening on our roads. It feels like I-25 will never get finished and we are predicting that there will be speeding cameras there for sure.
When Cameras Are Coming to Colorado
Denver7 says that the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin its photo speeding program at construction zones, but it will expand to other areas in the future.
The Denver Post says that there will be signage to warn drivers 300 feet before the driver passes the camera.
They also say that there will be a grace period, but fines will be a minimum of $45. Coloradans that are excessively speeding will start receiving citations as soon as Spring 2025.
