The Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland ended in a tie for the third consecutive year Thursday night, with Jairam Hathwar and Nihar Janga declared co-champions. Each will receive a trophy and $45,000 in cash and prizes.

A Colorado girl finished 4th.  Eighth-grader Sylvie Lamontagne from Creighton Middle School of Lakewood made the national competition for the second-straight year. Last year, LaMontagne finished ninth.
