Hands down one of the best parts of summers in Northern Colorado is the amount of daylight we have. I like having daylight well into the evening. With fall right around the corner, we're going to start seeing the days get shorter and shorter.

It was only a few short weeks ago when we had the longest day of the year. As the hot Northern Colorado days go by, the minutes of light from the sun every day dwindles. Starting August 1, people in Northern Colorado will see 14 hours and 16 minutes of daylight. By August 15, we will only see 13 hours and 45 minutes. That is a loss of 29 minutes in only 15 short days according to timeanddate.com.

When August finally comes to an end in Northern Colorado, we will have lost even more daylight. Saturday, August 1, 2024, will only have 13 hours and five minutes of daylight. That is an overall loss of 71 precious minutes of daylight in a single month. September is another month we will see even more loss of daylight in Colorado. Starting on September 1, daylight hours will equal 13 hours and three minutes. By the end of September, Colorado will lose another 76 minutes of sun.

Fall is coming to Northern Colorado

Like many of you, I am ready for the crisp fall air with cooler temperatures. The one thing I am not ready for, or ever will be for that matter, is the loss of daylight. I know it happens every year and it is part of life, but it is still kind of discouraging. Oh well, there is always next summer for those long days full of sunlight.
