Colorado Councilwoman Criticized for Anti-Trump Coronavirus Tweet
The Colorado Republican Party is calling for a Denver City Councilwoman to resign after she retweeted a anti-Trump message on Twitter.
Denver City Councilwoman Cani CdeBaca drew criticism this week after she retweeted a message on Twitter that said “For the record, if I do get the Coronavirus I’m attending every MAGA rally I can.” Not only did she retweet the (now deleted) message, but she added her own commentary writing "#solidarity Yaaas!!"
The Colorado Republican Party is calling for her resignation and said this to Denver 7:
There can be no room in our politics for wishing harm on Americans who have different political beliefs. Democrats in Colorado and across the country need to condemn this evil statement.
The Democratic Socialist told Denver 7 she’s apologetic but doesn’t regret the tweet:
“I apologize to anybody who did not understand the tweet, who missed the context. It was not intended to hurt anyone’s feelings… it was not intended to facilitate or cause harm. It meant to amplify the issue and demand attention to the issue at the federal level.”
