Colorado Approves Credit Card Purchases for Lottery Tickets
The Colorado Lottery Commission approved a major rule change: lottery tickets will be able to be purchased using a credit card.
Lawmakers Push Back on Colorado’s New Lottery Rules
Some state law makers seem opposed to the idea, according to reports.
"I don't think that you should be able to buy lottery tickets on credit cards," said state Rep. William Lindstedt.
"I think that's a mistake, and I wish I had the opportunity to weigh in on those rules as a legislator."
State legislators on both side of the aisle are trying to get the lottery commission to involve them in this major change.

Governor Jared Polis Supports Modernizing Colorado’s Lottery System
Governor Jared Polis is in support of the commission's move. He claims that this will modernize the system and improve consumer convenience.
The Centennial State will be the 24th state to permit the purchase of lottery tickets on credit cards.

Growing up in Pennsylvania, I honestly had no clue that this was such a big deal. Then I was a bit shocked when I moved to states like Colorado that don't allow you to purchase lottery tickets using a credit card.
When Will Colorado’s New Lottery Policies Take Effect?
Reports confirm that these changes for Colorado customers include online lottery ticket sales as well. Lawmakers have said that these changes and the implementation of these rules won't happen right away.

Most likely we won't see this lottery ticket policy changing until the new year.
If it does happen, merchants will not be required to accept credit cards as a form of payment, and it will still be up to their discretion.
