It is Beginning to Feel A Lot Like Christmas in Colorado
School has only just begun, and the temperatures have been in the triple digits some of those days. Most are anticipating fall to begin, for the temperatures to drop, the leaves to change, and for football season to begin. With focus on the fall, some have already begun focusing on Halloween and shopping for the spooky holiday. For others, it is too soon to be thinking of Halloween, with over two months to go until the holiday. Despite it not being fall, being months from Halloween, and school being only a week or less old for some, there are some already focusing on Christmas. Is it too soon to begin shopping for Christmas decorations, lights, and gifts? Colorado doesn't think so, as some stores are already putting out Christmas stock for this year.
Christmas Shopping in Colorado

There are select places in Colorado that offer the opportunity to shop for Christmas all year. There are a few stores in Estes Park that only have Christmas decorations, ornaments, and figurines, and there is even an entire theme park dedicated to the holiday down near Colorado Springs. Most stores wait to put out their Christmas stock, knowing that the average shopper is not looking to buy during the hottest months of the year. Despite being four months away, one store has already put out some Christmas decorations, and likely others will follow soon, so they don't fall behind the competition.
Christmas Shopping at Costco in August

On a recent visit to Costco on Sunday, August 23, in Longmont, I noticed the store already has a few Christmas options on display. As seen above, they have a Nativity scene, a big light-up snowman, an Advent calendar, and even a Christmas tree. While it isn't much, it is surprising to see it out this soon, when school is less than a week old for many in the area. The world tries to move faster than ever, and people are less patient than at any time in history, but attempting to put Christmas stock out in August seems a tad premature. It is getting earlier and earlier every year, and before long, Christmas decorations, lights, and decor will be out all year in retail stores.
