Costco is among the favorites when it comes to stores to shop at. They have a little bit of everything: free samples, tires, food court, great deals, and a variety of things to choose from. Yes, the shoppers can be a little crazy, which you can read more about here, but overall, Costco is a beloved store that most enjoy shopping at. Not all Costco stores are created equal, though, and depending on which store you go to, may depend on what type of shopping experience you have. There are two main Costco stores in Northern Colorado, but which one is the best, and where should you shop to have the best experience?

There are two Costco stores to choose from if you live in Northern Colorado. You can go to the one in Timnath, located at 4705 Weitzel Street, or you can go a little further south and go to the one in Longmont, located at 205 E Ken Pratt Blvd. They both offer a variety of choices, are open the same hours, and both have food courts offering delicious hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, and drinks. The prices are the same, so when it comes to saving money, neither store has the advantage. So what differences do the stores have, and how do you choose which one to go to?

When it comes to distance, the advantage has to fall to Timnath, as many live in Loveland, Fort Collins, Windsor, Johnstown, or Greeley. This store is nicely located off the interstate and makes traffic less of an issue than the Longmont store. When it comes to selection, both stores are pretty equal, with many of the same choices, but the Longmont store does seem to have a few things that the Timnath one does not. When it comes to parking, the parking lot in Longmont is less crowded and easier to navigate, offering spots closer to the door and less traffic when walking in and out of the store. When it comes to the shopping experience, the Longmont store does appear to be less crowded, offering a better experience, getting down aisles much easier, and giving you more space so you don't feel too crowded. The customer service seems to be better in Longmont as well, but with less of a crowd, employees can give more attention to shoppers. The food court is less crowded in Longmont, offering more space and a better eating experience as well.

The overall verdict is that the Longmont Costco seems to be the superior store, but with the extra driving, extra time in traffic, being further off the interstate, and with gas prices being as high as they are, these must be taken into account. If you are willing to go a little further, the Longmont Costco may be a better option for you, but if you're only getting a few things, and a crowd doesn't bother you, then the Timnath location might be exactly what you need. Which store do you prefer to shop at?
