Burglar Eaten by Alligator While Trying to Hide from Cops
A suspected burglar was eaten by an alligator near a lake in Florida while hiding from police.
Matthew Riggins' body was found in a lake 10 days after the burglary took place on November 23. Police were almost attacked by an aggressive 11-foot alligator as they tried to pull his remains from the water.
The alligator was euthanized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and forensic investigators found the 22-year-old burglar's hand and foot inside the gator's stomach.
On the night of the burglary, Riggins told his girlfriend he would be in the Barefoot Bay community to steal from homes. He called her later that night to tell her he was hiding from police.
He was reported missing by family the next day, and was later found dead.
