One of the most notorious motels in north Fort Collins is finally on its way out.
In a report from the Coloradan, the old Budget Inn along North College Avenue will be demolished sometime in March.

City Purchases Budget Inn Property for Over $2 Million
The property was purchased by city officials last summer for just over two million dollars. Initially, there was talk of finding another use for the building.
Now, that plan has been put to rest.
Asbestos and Meth Contamination Forces Motel Demolition
When inspectors looked into the property, they found asbestos and some heavy meth contamination throughout the motel. The only option for the property was demolition.
Budget Inn Featured 30 Units Close to CSU and Old Town
This property has thirty units, with one suite, according to the Budget Inn's official website.
With it being only two miles away from CSU's campus, and one mile from Old Town this motel was a cheaper option for those visiting the school.

Future Redevelopment Expected Along North College Avenue Corridor
There's no word yet on what will be moving into that space. In addition, no exact date for the demo has been released yet, but we will keep you updated as more information comes out regarding this project.
However, city officials did confirm that the clearing of the site will open the door for redevelopment along that busy corridor in the future.
