Single Mothers May Want to Move Out of Colorado
Being a single mother might be the hardest job on the entire planet. You have to work to make money to provide for your child or children; you have to take care of them, and depending on your friends and family nearby, you may not have any help doing any of it. Being a parent alone is tough, but when you are doing it without a partner to help you, it makes it even harder. Where you live can dictate how tough it is or if it is a little bit easier. When it comes to being a single mom, is Colorado a good state for you, or would another state offer better support?
The Best and Worst States For Single Moms

Single moms have so much on their plate. They have to be at multiple places at one time, have little to no help, and go through life stressed in ways that many will never know. According to a recent study by singlemothersgrant.org, the best place for a single mom to live in America is Worcester, Massachusetts, with Minneapolis, Minnesota being the second best, and Omaha, Nebraska is the third best place. The things that dictate if a place is good for a single mom include rent burden, child care availability, transportation, food cost, unemployment, crime, healthcare, childcare cost, and education. According to the study, the best overall state for a single mom is Vermont, followed by North Dakota, and South Dakota rounding out the top three. The worst place is Washington DC, with California being the worst state, and Nevada being the second-worst state.
Is Colorado a Good State For Single Moms?

When it comes to being a single mom in Colorado, there are some things working for you, and other things working against you. Colorado sadly ranks 36th on the list, which is not a good look. Colorado is 40th in rent burden, making it hard for single moms to afford a place to live; it is 25th in child care availability, 42nd in child care cost, 13th in transportation, 32nd in food cost, 37th in unemployment, 44th in crime, 15th in healthcare, and 4th in education. The good news is that kids will get a good education and be taken care of health-wise, but the crime rate is alarming, and the cost of child care can be hard on a one-income household.
