Colorado gun laws might change soon due to a new bill that is being proposed. As of right now in Colorado, certain ammunition can be bought at 18 years old. However. handgun ammunition has more strict policies. You must be 21 years old in order to buy ammunition for a handgun.

Here’s what we know about House Bill 1133 and the changes that might be coming to Colorado soon.

About New Proposed Law and Colorado

House Bill 1133 is looking to raise the age to purchase any firearm ammunition to 21 years old.

The law would require all buyers to at least be 21 years of age, regardless of the type of ammunition they try to buy.

The House Bill also would make it mandatory that any ammunition would be stored and displayed or behind counters, to ensure the safety and security of the ammunition.

According to the Colorado Sun, the House Bill is being introduced by Colorado Democrats, and wants to make this law official very soon. As of right now, House Bill 1133’s first steps will begin with a hearing on February 13.

Looking Close at Proposed Colorado Bill

We took a look at the bill and learned that ammunition can only be bought, purchased, and delivered with what they call vendor assistance.

This means that if you buy ammunition online, your package will have a label to ensure that the person who delivers the ammunition has to check the purchaser's identification to complete the delivery. However, these packages cannot say that they have ammunition.

Plus, the delivery person will have to have a written acknowledgment of the receipt and identification.

If the delivery person does not check if the purchaser is 21 years old, they could potentially be facing a misdemeanor.
