Colorado Starter Homes Cost Over $1 Million in Three Cities

Colorado Starter Homes Are Getting More Expensive
Colorado's real estate market has been pretty wild for the past decade or more. Increasing property prices, homeowner's insurance, and property taxes almost make it feel like it is unattainable to buy your first home.

When someone buys a home for the first time, these properties are usually called a starter home. You start your real estate journey at this residence, then as your family gets bigger, you move to another home to accommodate.
A new 2026 report from Zillow shows how many cities across the United States have starter homes listed at $1 million or more. Currently, there is a record 242 cities across the nation where you would need a seven-figure mortgage to purchase an entry-level home.
Three Colorado Cities Have Million-Dollar Starter Homes
Colorado has three cities on the list. According to the Denver Post, Columbine Valley, in proximity to Littleton, the cost of a starter home averages $1.2 million. The second-highest on the list is near Columbine Valley in Jefferson County. A starter home in the community of Bow Mar averages $1.64 million.

The most expensive community on the list for a starter home in Colorado is Cherry Hills Village, at an average price of $2.2 milion for an entry-level home.
