Crews are working to open Trail Ridge Road for the summer tourism season.

As of last week, there was 16 feet of snow at Upper Hidden Valley; 17.5 feet at Rainbow Curve and 18.5 feet just west of Rock Cut.

A new wildfire is spewing smoke in Rocky Mountain National Park, near Estes Park, Colorado. According to the Coloradoan, air support was called to help contain the fire this afternoon.

At 6pm, Rocky Mountain National Park tweeted that the fire has grown to over 300 acres and is heading north toward the Ute trail.

Rain really is a good thing for more reasons than one. One of those reasons is we can now go camping and responsibly use a campfire again in Rocky Mountain National Park. The park banned all campfires last month because of the threat of wildfires in Colorado, but as of yesterday lifted part of that ban.

Too often I take for granted that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Saturday was a perfect, stunning, sunshiny day! I was standing on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park next to a gentleman from Mississippi who said, "This is breathtaking. It's a once in a lifetime experience!" I didn't have the heart to tell him that I lived just a little over an hour away.

Estes Park is just about an hour or so away for most of us! So why don't we visit more?  It is one of the most beautiful spots on earth, but my wife and I (Todd Harding) only go when when have visitors from out of town!
