Garth Brooks Death Hoax Hits the Web

Despite the rumors, Garth Brooks is not dead — so fans frantic to get a refund for tickets to his Las Vegas show can breathe a sigh of relief! Though word spread the country superstar passed in a tragic jet ski accident in the Turks and Caicos Islands today (July 16), the reports are completely fabricated.

In fact, they were made up by the source that first claimed Brooks had died while on nautical vacation.

According to Global Associated News:

Preliminary reports from Turks and Caicos Police officials indicate that the musician struck a concrete boat slip in a marina on Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Garth Brooks was the only passenger on the personal watercraft at the time of the incident. Specific details are not yet available.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. (UTC/GMT -4 hours).

A simple scroll to the bottom of the page will dismiss any validity to the claims, with a disclaimer reading:

FAKE… THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic ‘template’ and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank ‘non-specific’ template for the purpose of entertainment.

A very much alive Brooks will continue his Las Vegas residency soon, with the next show scheduled for July 19. The ‘More Than a Memory’ singer has dates scheduled at the Encore Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort through the rest of the year.

Fans may remember that Reba McEntire too fell victim to a death hoax earlier this year, with claims made that she died while shooting a movie in Austria.
