You’ll only really need half a can of beer so if you’re thirsty have yourself a little burpy treat.
what you’ll need:
The number one ingredient is a crock pot, yes, this dish is not gonna cause any major issues in your life today-crock it and forget. Grab a 3lb ish top round roast from your grocer and let’s get crocking. You’ll also need two cans of diced tomatoes, you can get the kind that is seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano-this will only add great flavor, but plain will be okay too (especially if you already have it on hand in the pantry) 1 medium (or small if you are not a huge onion fan) onion diced, 2 Tbs of butter, half a can of beer light or otherwise (honestly though, you could use a whole can with a 3 lb roast-trust me the kids won’t get drunk, it just adds flavor) 2 Tbs molasses (if you don’t have it you need it, call the neighbor and borrow it if you don’t want to buy a whole jar, but then again the holidays are on the way, you may need some molasses.) when meat is done shred it, this can be done right in the crock, take a fork in each hand and just start pulling it apart. I like to have this with a big bowl of mashed potatoes, don’t have time for fresh, who cares there are some really great boxed mashed taters out there these days, don’t be ashamed, buy a box. And enjoy dinner tonight with your family.
Putting it all together:
Grab a 3lb ish top round roast from your grocer and let’s get crocking. If you’re going to do this on a workday put the crock on low and enjoy when you get home, if you’re home and get up late or start later in the morning than a work day put it on high. Add to the crock your roast, no need to brown it, but do through on some season all, garlic and pepper (my go to seasonings with beef), to this add the cans of tomato sauce and beer.
