Would You Ever Spend $400 to Eat a Specialty Pineapple?
When it comes to food, I am more of a street food or a hole-in-the-wall type of guy. I feel like that preference comes from watching shows like Diners, Drive-In, and Dives and countless hours of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. Food featured on shows like this seems more in my lane, not only when it comes to my tastebuds, but also financially.
A small spoonful of Petrossian Caviar at the Michelin Award Ceremony in Denver was one of the most expensive things I have ever eaten. Don't get me wrong, if I had the opportunity to eat caviar every day, I totally would. But at a price point of more than one hundred dollars per ounce, that is just too rich for my blood.

Some people really love going all out for expensive and rare food items. If you have extra cash to burn and want to get your hands on one of only 5,000 fruits grown, listen up because there is one fruit you need to know about.

An ultra-rare, luxurious fruit has only been available in Asia and just recently shipped to the United States. This fruit has been 16 years in the making thanks to research and traditional crossbreeding. This truly one-of-a-kind pineapple is grown and ripened on the plant in Costa Rica.
Del Monte's $400 Rubyglow Pineapple
Del Monte says this rare pineapple is a meld of the classic pineapple and the rare Morada pineapple giving the fruit a reddish, jewel-toned exterior and a rich citirine-yellow flesh with smooth flavor and minimal acidity.
Currently, the only location in the United States to offer Del Monte's Rubyglow Pineapple is Melissa's grocery store in Southern California and it is already sold out.
Honestly, I would love to try this pineapple just to see what the hype is all about. Would it be worth the $400 price tag? Probably not. However, it would be fun to say that you have had a bite of a $400 pineapple. Learn more about the Rubyglow Pineapple at delmonte.com.
