What was once supposed to be the World's largest sports park has been scaled back and the new plans have been approved by the Windsor Town Board. The Colorado National Sports Park project is now just a revamp of Windsor's Diamond Valley Sports Complex. Two multi-use sports fields should be built by March 2020.

According to the Windsor Tribune:

The town's board of trustees voted 5-0 in favor of transferring the park’s property, at 801 Diamond Valley Drive, to the company. At a Sept. 10 meeting, the board also unanimously approved a resolution to enter into a public-private partnership to begin the project.

The project's original plan was to build 68 multi-use fields and the minor-league stadium with an indoor training facility and offices for the sports park near the intersection of Harmony Road and Colorado 257.

Now that the company has the town's approval for the first phase, they will build two synthetic turf fields alongside Diamond Valley's three existing fields.
