A New Type of Intersection is Coming to One Colorado City
As traffic seems to get greater in the state of Colorado, city planners are coming up with numerous ways to cut down on the congestion. Loveland has long been dubbed a roundabout city by many, Johnstown has added a new type of intersection, and soon, another Colorado city will get an intersection that may confuse some drivers.
Before the first location of Buc-ee's in the state of Colorado opened, a double diamond intersection was constructed in Johnstown at the Highway 60 and Interstate 25 interchange. While this intersection has been around for a while, it still seems to confuse drivers. Much like a roundabout intersection, the double diamond intersection is said to be less dangerous when it comes to collisions compared to a standard four-way intersection.

The Denver Metro Area city of Wheat Ridge is implementing a new type of intersection called Continuous Flow Intersections, which will almost certainly boggle drivers the first time they drive through it. But once you get used to them, they seem pretty convenient.
The intersections of 38th and 44th Avenues on Wadsworth Boulevard have been a headache to get through for as long as I can remember. Traffic jams, people running red lights, and more, are just a few of the issues that these Colorado intersections are known for. To improve the flow of traffic, these new intersections will divert the turning traffic from Wadsworth in both directions to the far left side of oncoming traffic.

When the light turns green for Wadsworth traffic to carry on, vehicles going north and south, plus vehicles turning left or right onto 38th and 44th Avenues can move without impeding traffic. Honestly, it looks pretty efficient. Take a look at the video that Wheat Ridge Channel 8 posted on YouTube to show how the intersection will operate.
