Weld County Jail Deputy Arrested for Allegedly Having Relations With Inmate
On Thursday (July 8), the Weld County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) arrested a detentions deputy who allegedly had sexual relations with an inmate at the Weld County Jail.
According to a news release from WCSO, Greeley resident Jason Hillyer, 32, is currently in the Weld County Jail facing a Class 5 felony charge of sexual conduct in a correctional institution. Officers have placed him on non-paid administrative leave.
Police became aware of the allegations on June 29, after which Internal Affairs and WCSO's Investigations Unit launched extensive investigations into Hillyer's alleged behavior. Prior to his arrest, he was placed on paid administrative leave.
Hillyer had been a deputy at the Weld County Jail since June 18, 2018. The release noted that he is suspected of having an "intimate relationship with at least one inmate at the Weld County Jail."
Due to the ongoing investigation, police are not releasing any further details at this time.
