[WATCH] CO Man Woken Up By Mountain Lion Eating an Elk on Porch
A Colorado man was awoken by banging noises outside of his home, located in Glenwood Canyon, at around 2 a.m. on January 5. When he turned on the porch light, he saw something that would pretty much take anyone by surprise.
He found a female elk laying on his porch, flailing her legs. Charles Zelenka, the resident of the Glenwood Canyon home, said when he turned on the light, he initially thought the elk was hit by a car on Interstate 70 and had made its way onto his yard.
Zelenka was about to go outside to assess the situation, when suddenly, a mountain lion popped up from beneath the elk. He then grabbed his phone and started to record the encounter through his bathroom window.
Zelenka contacted Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and officers came to remove the elk from his property the next morning.
Zelenka shared another video, via Facebook, of the mountain lion returning late Wednesday night, looking for its fresh kill from the previous evening.
The initial post of the mountain lion and the elk encounter has been shared over 14,000 times. One Facebook user named Morgan Grant commented on the post, saying "Most cats leave their human a mouse. This one left a family feast for a month."
I know one thing is for certain... If I was living where Charles Zelenka lives, I would be extra cautious for a while when going into or out of my home. You never can tell where that mountain lion may be hiding.
