UCHealth Opens New Trauma Bay At Longs Peak Hospital
A new trauma bay opened up this week at Longmont's Longs Peak Hospital to accommodate patients who need advanced, critical and immediate trauma care.
This is actually just one of three projects for increasing capacity in the hospital's emergency department.
According to a press release, the number of emergency visits has doubled over the past three years so more space is definitely needed. As a level 3 trauma center, Longs Peak has seen emergency visits go up from 11,137 in 2018 to 21,591 in 2020.
Another project is the buildout of six new patient rooms and to double the size of the intensive care unit which will have 12 new units when completed at the end of February.
The third project is the construction of a 100,000 square foot medical office building to the east of the hospital and surgery center.
