Five Colorado schools have been presented with 2018 National Blue Ribbon Awards, two of them in Fort Collins.

According to The Denver Channel, 'The award is presented to the schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps.'

Congratulations to Tavelli Elementary School and Zach Elementary School, both part of Poudre School District in Fort Collins, for their recognition from the U.S. Department of Education. Both elementary schools had test scores in the top 15 percent of the state, Chalkbeat reported.
