Transfort Suspends Rider Fares Indefinitely
Transfort will not charge riders during the COVID-19 outbreak, stated a City of Fort Collins press release.
The waived fares are in effect indefinitely for all Transfort buses, MAX, FLEX and Dial-a-Ride as of Thursday, March 19.
Discontinuing rider fares for the time being, the City of Fort Collins says, is due to 'increased difficulty of purchasing tickets and passes due to the closure of transit centers, lower ridership due to more people staying in their homes, economic hardship for some transit users, and that the suspension of fares limits the interaction between drivers and riders, thereby encouraging social distancing.'
Transfort buses are disinfected regularly. Riders are asked to distance themselves at least six feet from other passengers and the driver, and to load through the rear door unless they are using a mobility device.
