
This is When Colorado Will See a Total Solar Eclipse
In 2017, our neighbors to the north in Wyoming got to experience a total solar eclipse. I remember this August day like it was yesterday, because Interstate 25 was jammed up all day long before and after the eclipse.

People from all over the Rocky Mountain region flocked to the area just to catch a glimpse of that phenomenon. While we may not have gotten to experience the darkness that a solar eclipse brings, many in Northern Colorado got to see the sky turn an odd shade of grey.
In 2024, there was yet again another total solar eclipse; however, the closest viewing opportunity for this particular one was in the state of Texas. The United States will not see another total solar eclipse in our nation for quite some time.
The Next Total Solar Eclipse in the U.S.
The next time a total solar eclipse will happen in the continental United States will be in 2044. If you want to witness this eclipse with your eyes, you will yet again have to travel, this time further to Montana or North Dakota.

If you can hold out until 2045, that is when the real magic will happen without having to leave your home to travel to see this rare occurrence. On August 12, 2045, Colorado will experience a total solar eclipse.
Colorado Towns in the Path of Totality
The towns that will be in the full path of totality, including Colorado Springs, Aspen, Pueblo, Lamar, and La Junta, will be the best spots to experience total celestial darkness in Colorado, according to 9 News.
