The Top 10 Country Songs From When The Avs Last Won The Stanley Cup
The Colorado Avalanche are Stanley Cup Champions. It feels really good to say that because we love the Avs but even more so simply because it's been so long since we've been able to say it, 21 years.
Someone could have had a baby when the Avalanche last won the cup and they would be able to drink a beer right now, to put it in perspective. A lot can change and has changed in the past 21 years but something that hasn't is our love and passion for country music.
June 2001, just a few months before Empower Field would host the Broncos' first game and of course just 3 months before the horrific events of 9/11.
Our lives were all so much different back then in which seems a lifetime ago, I thought it would be cool to look back at that summer of 2001 when guys like current Avalanche GM Joe Sakic was hoisting the Cup as the team captain along with long time hockey legend Ray Bourque finally getting the opportunity to hoist the cup along with guys like Patrick Roy, Peter Forsberg, Milan Hejduk, Adam Deadmarsh, Rob Blake, Adam Foote, Alex Tanguay the list goes on and on but yeah, it's been a while.
While it's fun to look back on the names and remember the moments from the team, I found it a lot of fun to look back on what we were listening to in the realm of country music back in the summer of 2001 and I'm pretty sure these songs are sure to bring back some memories, some great, some perhaps not so great but let's take a look back together.
