The Greeley Stampede is just 2 months away, but don't blink. We will be setting up camp in Island Grove Park before you know it. There are a few things I really look forward to at the the Stampede, so I made a list. These are the "5 things I am most looking forward to at the Greeley Stampede":

5. 4th of July Parade

I love watching the Greeley Stampede parade, I love walking or riding in the parade. I love people shouting out our names as we pass by. I love the flyovers. I love the Longhorns. I love the bands. I love the floats. I love all the happy kids. I love how just about everyone in Northern Colorado packs 10th Avenue from UNC to Downtown Greeley. The parade will start at 9am sharp on Independence Day.

4. Rodeo

SaveOne of my favorite things is to take people to the rodeo who have never seen one before. Since my wife, Jenny, works at CSU, we entertain a lot of international guests. We have taken people to the Stampede rodeo from Iraq, China, Italy, Australia, England, Brazil, South Africa, and even 1st timers from the U.S. I would like to say my favorite event is the saddle bronc or even the bull riding, but it's not. My favorite, by far, is the mutton bustin'.

3. The Music

The Greeley Stampede has booked some amazing acts for this summer. I still haven't decided what will be the best show. We have some great shows to choose from: Darius Rucker, Dustin Lynch, Aaron Watson, and the Roots & Boots Tours featuring Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, and Collin Raye. I am also really looking forward to Sawyer Brown and Diamond Rio on the Extraction Free Entertainment Stage.

2. The Food

I would go to the Greeley Stampede just for the food. I love it. If it's deep fried or on a stick, you got me. Every year I have a pork chop on a stick. Every year I have at least one funnel cake. The picture above is deep fried Oreos. I always have to get some Rocky Mountain Oysters and my wife wouldn't let me leave Island Grove Park without buying her some kettle corn and cotton candy. I can't wait to find out what is new this year.

1. Good Friends

My favorite thing at the Greeley Stampede, by far, is the friends I run into every year. I would say that includes at least half of the Wranglers and the Stampede Committee. It's only time I get to see some folks all year long. The Greeley Stampede is the perfect place for friends to get together, so I will see you at the Stampede.
