Is Colorado the State With the Best Economy in 2026?
Life has gotten expensive, and the economy has been up and down over the last few years. Many are finding themselves struggling over the last few years, while others are continuing to live life the same as they always have. The economy can be unpredictable at times, and depending on where you live, it will depend on how the economy is for you. When it comes to the different states, which state has the best economy, which has the worst, and how is Colorado's economy compared to other states?
The Best and Worst Economies in the United States
It is well known that some states don't produce as much money as some other states, and that their economy is worse off for it. Some states are more populated, have more successful businesses, produce a lot more, and their economy is better. Which state has the best economy, though? WalletHub recently released a study of the best and worst economies in the country and ranked the states using categories such as economic activity, economic health, and innovation potential. Using these criteria, it was determined that Massachusetts has the best economy in the country, with Washington having the second best, and Utah rounding out the top three. The worst economy in the country is West Virginia, with Kentucky being the second worst, and Louisiana being the third worst. How does Colorado's economy compare, though, and where does it fall on the list?
How is the Economy in Colorado?
The economy in Colorado is doing much better than most states, although it isn't the best, nor is it in the top five. Colorado's economy ranks 9th in the country, as they are 15th in economic activity, 24th in economic health, and 5th in innovation potential. One thing that Colorado has that is working for it is that it has the 4th highest median annual house income in the country, but one negative is that the state has the third fewest exports per capita. While no economy seems to be doing great right now, living in Colorado puts you in a better situation than more than 80% of the country.

The next time you complain about the economy, know that it could be much worse.
