There are a lot of shady people in the world. Too many of them weren't taught or never listened to the all-important lesson that we were taught or should have been taught from a very early age: if it doesn't belong to you, don't touch it and keep your hands to yourself.

Sadly, too many individuals are stealing people's property and one of the largest pieces of property that a person can own is a vehicle. And there are lots of people in Colorado that are stealing people's vehicles and it's not okay.

According to The Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority (CATPA) and Colorado State Patrol, they teamed up to provide us with this information on exactly which vehicles are being stolen the most.

Thankfully, my 2008 piece of you-know-what didn't make the list, but a press release from State Patrol tried to shed some light on exactly what is going on and how to help avoid this kind of thing happening to you, saying:

This is a multi-victim crime that aids other crimes. Everyone wants a safe place to live, commute, and play. Please do yourselves, your neighbors, co-workers, friends, and your other community members a favor. Take your keys and always lock your vehicle to bring these numbers down and make Colorado a safer place.

Check out to see if your vehicle made this list and whether it did or not, this is a little heads up to let you know that there are plenty of thieves just waiting for an opportunity to pounce and swipe a car these days.

Here are some tips from the CATPA on preventing your vehicle from getting stolen.
