Teens Can Work Out For Free At Planet Fitness This Summer
This summer, Planet Fitness is bringing back an incentive to promote the importance of physical and mental wellness for teenagers.
As per multiple sources, including a social media post via the Planet Fitness Instagram account, the popular fitness chain's High School Summer Pass permits high schoolers ages 14-19 to work out at any Planet Fitness location at no cost from Monday, May 16 though Wednesday, Aug. 31.
"As the leader in fitness, we believe we have a responsibility to provide a welcoming, safe, and Judgement Free environment for high school students to improve their physical and mental wellness, particularly given the challenges they have and continue to face in the wake of the pandemic," said Planet Fitness CEO Chris Rondeau, according to 9News.
A Planet Fitness national study reportedly found that 78 percent of teenagers said having access to a place to work out and being able to exercise with friends would benefit their health and fitness journeys; the same study found 92 percent of teens agreed they feel much better mentally when they are regularly physically active.
In an effort to further encourage teenagers to take advantage of the fitness center's program, all participants in the promotion will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes to win a $500 scholarship; one person in each state will be selected to win the award.
In addition, one grand prize of a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded at the end of the summer to one participating teen. The scholarships can be used for academic or athletic activities or other programs, 9News says.
