Take A Ride On The Fort Collins Trolley Beginning This April
The Fort Collins Trolley is gearing up for another season of rides around the Choice City.
As per the official Fort Collins Trolley website, the Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society, which operates a pair of historic Birney streetcars during the spring and summer annually, will kick off rides for its 2022 season next month - on Saturday, April 30.
About The Fort Collins Trolley
According to the Coloradoan, the Birney Car 21 — a 1919 streetcar that was part of Fort Collins' early streetcar system before being restored and returned to a set of Old Town tracks in the 1980s — will be in operation this season.
The Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society features another streetcar - the Birney Car 25 - which was restored and introduced to Mountain Avenue's streetcar tracks in 2020, but will reportedly remain out of service through the 2022 season due to mechanical difficulties, Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society trainer Bob Browning told the Coloradoan earlier this year.
Those who'd like to ride the Fort Collins Trolley can meet it at its starting point, located at the trolley's City Park depot; the trolley departs every 30 minutes and has other boarding locations around Fort Collins, including along Mountain Avenue at Shields, Loomis and Howes Streets.
How Much Does It Cost To Ride The Fort Collins Trolley?
To ride the Fort Collins Trolley, rides cost $2 for adults and $1 for seniors; children and free for children under 3 years old. Fare costs are reportedly only being accepted through cash.
As a fairly recent Colorado transplant, riding the Fort Collins Trolley has been something I've wanted to do since moving to NoCo a little over a year ago.
There are many existing trolleys that you can ride, visit, look inside and take a tour of - but there are very few existing trolleys as historical and as cool as the Fort Collins Trolley that still operate today.
