Even if you're not a diehard horror film fanatic, you most likely are familiar with a little place called the Stanley Hotel.

The Real-Life Inspiration Behind Stephen King's The Shining

This 68 acre property has nearly 200 rooms across the historic main hotel, The Lodge, and the Aspire wing.

Years ago, best-selling author Stephen King visited the business. During his stay, he had a vision of a story that took place in that very Colorado hotel.

He later went on to write 'The Shining' based off of this idea which was adapted into the feature length horror phenomenon.

Now, this piece of movie history has been sold for a sizable amount, according to reports.

Who Bought the Stanley Hotel in Colorado?

Who or what ended up buying one of the most iconic hotels in Colorado?

Was it a massive Stephen King fan?

A local entrepreneur?

Or was it a massive corporation that will turn this beautiful place into another hotel chain?

Reports confirm that the new owner is the Stanley Partnership for Art Culture and Education, LLC (SPACE).

Public-Private Partnership Backs Stanley Hotel Purchase

SPACE has a "public-private partnership" with the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority, private investors like John Cullen (owner of the hotel for the past three decades), and Sage Hospitality Group, according to reports.

"The Stanley Hotel represents everything we look for in a landmark property: a rich history, innovative programming, and deep community connections. We see so much opportunity and look forward to creating memorable guest experiences," said Daniel del Olmo, President and Co-CEO of Sage Hospitality Group.

Stanley Hotel Expansion Plans Include 65,000 Sq. Ft. Event Center

The $400 million price tag isn't just for the hotel buyout, it's actual going to cover the cost of a "major expansion" for the property, reports confirm.

New Stanley Hotel Event Center Will Feature a Horror Museum by Blumhouse

This is specifically for the expansion and improvement of the two lodging buildings as well as a new 65,000 square foot event center.

Reportedly, the event center will include an 864-person auditorium as well as a horror film museum that will be "curated" by Blumhouse Productions.

If you're not familiar with Blumhouse Productions, they are the minds behind some of the wildest horror films of the past decade like M3GANInsidious, and ALL of the Paranormal Activity movies.
