Shortage of a Popular Hot Sauce Could Be Coming Soon to Colorado
Food is almost always better with a bit of spice. Tacos? Add hot sauce. In my house, there are easily over a dozen different bottles of hot sauce ranging from mild to melt-your-face-off hot. What can I say? I like it spicy.
One of those hot sauce staples is Sriracha. There is just something about the big red bottle that I love and I am not alone in that sentiment. There was a point in time when Sriracha hot sauce was a hot commodity and in very short supply. It appears that could soon happen once again.
Will Colorado Have a Sriracha Shortage in 2024?
According to Denver 7, Huy Fong Foods, the maker of Sriracha hot sauce, is dealing with a supply chain shortage of one of the main ingredients in the sauce. The ingredient is an integral part of the makeup of the hot sauce. The red jalapeno pepper. These red peppers are not red enough to meet the standards of Sriracha hot sauce.
It is reported that Huy Fong Foods will halt production of Sriracha hot sauce through September 2. So if you are running low on your favorite bottle of hot sauce known as Sriracha, you might want to get your hands on a bottle or two before they are no longer available this summer.
