Now this looks like fun.

Fort Collins is going to be one of select cities to enjoy some slippin' and slidin'.

Actually, after seeing the registration information for this event, I'm going to withhold judgement until I actually slide.

Single Slider

You will receive a wristband that gives you the ability to slide one time anytime during the day. You will also receive a mouthguard and a water gun.

One slide per wristband? Hmmm. Being that I am an expert at what should be charged to slide on things (read why I think Colorado ski resort prices are totally worth every penny here), I'll comment.

Is that price worth it? It depends. From the video, it looks like it's plenty long enough. Then, add the 'you must have an inflatable device' disclaimer...

Please remember that we require you to slide on an inflatable tube. We will have some sweet ones for sale in case you forget.

So, when you do inevitably show up for your one slide (more are available at higher costs), they'll upsell you. Hey, they have to monetize, otherwise there is no business. What we are trying to figure out, though, is the money going to be worth the slide?

While watching the video, you'll see some people who have run out of steam, so if you don't get moving, can you stand up, run and catch some more momentum to make the sliding fun? Or are you SOL because you don't know how to run and jump onto a sled? Will you slip and slide all over until you fall on your face if you aren't coordinated?

There are more variables in this than would meet the eye.

  1. The weather - You can't plan for it, but if it's a screaming hot, sunny Colorado day...well, what's not fun on those days?
  2. Pitch of the slide - It has to be placed on a downhill that's steep enough to make you move, but not too steep so more timid sliders can ride it.
  3. If you run out of momentum, can you easily generate more?
One slide, plus bring your own inflatable, add a 'life-is-what-you-make-of-it' attitude, and I think this could be a fun day.
No dates set yet, so check back for updates.
