PRCA Considers Moving Headquarters from Colorado to Wyoming

In a press release from officials with the PRCA (The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association), are most likely going to be moving operations out of Colorado and to Wyoming.

PRCA Board Approves Memorandum to Explore Cheyenne Relocation

The organization's Board of Directors approved a "non-binding memorandum of understanding" so that they could "seriously consider" relocating the PRCA headquarters, PRCA Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy to Cheyenne.

Cheyenne Offers Tax Incentives and Business-Friendly Climate

Officials claimed that there were a few key factors in their decision.

Cheyenne has a "a friendly business climate" and no state income tax.

In addition, Cheyenne has offered to build a Hall of Fame and an administrative building to host the PRCA national headquarters.

State-of-the-Art Facility Planned on 35 Acres Near I-25 and I-80

This new facility will have upgraded office space, first class conference rooms, as well as other amenities.

If the plan comes to fruition, the PRCA campus will be located on a 35-acre site near the intersection of Interstate 25 and Interstate 80.

Wyoming Governor Praises PRCA Relocation as “Cowboy State Legacy”

"Rodeo has been a part of Wyoming since before we were a state. It is in our DNA. I grew up roping a dummy at every PRCA rodeo, first my dad and then myself, competed in," Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon said.

 

"There is no better place on Earth than right here in the Cowboy State for the PRCA to be headquartered. We have the legacy, respect the tradition, and will always honor the cowboy way and Code of the West. Powder River, Let'er Buck!"

Funding Still Pending Approval from Wyoming Legislature

This massive plan to relocate has not been made official just yet.

Funding for the entire project has to be approved by the Wyoming Legislature.

Currently, the PRCA HQ campus is located in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade issued a statement explaining that they've been working very hard to keep the PRCA in the city.

“I am proud of the coalition we formed and the work we did collaboratively to try to retain the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame,” Mayor Mobolade said.

“Despite a generous package of incentives, the PRCA board voted to relocate to Cheyenne, Wyoming.”
