Orange Out This Weekend – Colorado State Throws Back to Aggie Days

Back in the day, the late 1800's, many leading universities were land grant institutions that studied the most important activity of the day--agriculture.

It's true of my alma mater, Penn State. And it's true of Colorado State. Since then, the former colleges have expanded to universities(a collection of colleges) with many more disciplines and interests.

Some of those interests involve spiking balls into the faces of kids from other schools. Others involve running over kids from other schools.

I'm talking, of course, about sports.

The Rams volleyball players are streaking, and play a big game on Saturday night in Moby Arena. After winning their conference home opener against UNLV, and being ranked #7 in the nation, they have high hopes for the rest of the season.

In football, Tulsa is in town. As the stadium issue continues to be uncertain, the color you should wear if you are attending the game is not in question. It's orange all the way.

Why not green or gold? Well, orange was a big part of the school's history for a long time. According to the website coloradoaggies.com, orange was a primary color for the end of the 19th century, and the beginning of the 20th.
