Colorado is filled with endless adventures in various destinations, from beautiful sand dunes and stunning mountains to scenic forests and sparkling lakes. Whether you're traveling from afar, or planning an epic staycation, the options are unlimited for a memorable trip.

TripAdvisor recently highlighted the coolest desert hot spots around the country that make for great getaways, and for Coloradans, one of those places especially sticks out among the rest.

According to TripAdvisor, Palisade, Colorado is one of the top 8 desert towns in America. The small town on Colorado's western slope is fun to visit for so many different reasons.

Palisade is an agricultural haven, most notably known for its peaches. During peak season, these juicy pitted fruits are celebrated throughout the town in the form of food and wine, festivals, tours, and more. Blossoming orchards, lavender fields, and acres of vineyards provide ample opportunities for entertainment.

Palisade pairs well with adventure! Whether you're into biking, hiking, boating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or fishing, the desert town nestled in the heart of the Grand Valley truly has it all. Curated events centered in the heart of the mountainous desert are also offered, which can make planning a vacation that much easier.

The gorgeous red rocks found in this high desert town lend themselves to amazing photographs. Just walking among these natural attractions is enough to leave anyone in awe.

TripAdvisor also noted Palisade's delicious restaurants and lively bars/breweries that add to the culture. The colorful downtown is lined with shops and boutiques, and the area is easy to navigate.

Although it's a desert, the Colorado River is a nice oasis on the outskirts of town. The Colorado Riverfront Trail features miles of pathways right along the flowing water.

From quaint bed and breakfasts to classier inns, Palisade has many accommodation and lodging options. TripAdvisor gave praise to the Spoke and Vine Motel, but plenty of other places are available for travelers to book a stay at.

Palisade is located just east of Grand Junction, along I-70 at Exit 42.
