Nursing Home Staff Caught Torturing Dolls
Two caretakers at a nursing home have been suspended after video of them bullying dementia patients by torturing their comfort dolls surfaced.
A cell phone video allegedly taken at the Ashbourne House in Middleton, England, shows one staffer throwing a doll around screaming, "Die baby, die!"
Photos obtained by the Manchester Evening News show the caretakers hanging a doll with a noose, boiling it in a pan, and tossing it in a dryer.
The 2 caretakers have been suspended pending an investigation and police have been notified of the incident.
"We take this very, very seriously," a nursing home spokesperson told Manchester Evening News. "The welfare of our residents is our highest priority."
Doll therapy is common in treating dementia patients, with some residents thinking of them like real babies - making torture incredibly traumatic.
