In 2020, the City of Fort Collins cancelled the 4th of July City Park fireworks show, and instead partnered with Larimer County for a drive-in show at The Ranch Events Complex. While large outdoor gatherings are now in the clear, Fort Collins will once again only be doing the drive-in show in Loveland, with a plan to return to the park in 2022. However, there are still a handful of 4th of July festivities in Fort Collins, starting at 6 a.m.

The City of Fort Collins will be hosting the hot air balloon launch at 6 a.m. on July 4. While that's pretty bright and early, the city says the balloons usually 'stay airborne for several hours,' depending on weather conditions.

There will also be a 4th of July Stars and Trucks 'motorcade' parade of 15 police cars, ambulances and more, starting at 10 a.m. in southeast Fort Collins. The route will be posted here.

Unlike last year, the city is encouraging us to gather with neighbors (yay). The city says to host front or backyard cookouts, decorate your porches and have fun! Like every year, setting off your own fireworks is discouraged — and illegal. If you do decide to go to the drive-in fireworks show to watch the pros, there are a few things you should know.

The fireworks show is free, however there's limited space. There will be 4,000 spaces available, and gates will open at 6 p.m. The show is expected to take place between 9:15 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. More info is available here.
