
Parents Shocked as One of the Most Hated Words is Added to the Dictionary
Does it seem like as soon as you catch on to new phrases, they are no longer used? If so, you are not the only one. In this day in age, there is so much going on and new slang seems to pop up on a daily basis, it is simply hard to keep track.
Many parents probably hear when their kids are saying, yet have no idea what it means. I am sure my parents felt the same way when I was young. I always heard the phrase "speak properly, that isn't a real word" quite often.
Thousands of New Words Added in 2025
Did you know that hundreds of words are added to the dictionary each year? This year is no different, and an astounding 6,000 words have officially been added to the Cambridge Dictionary.

So here is a legitimate question for many parents out there: if you were anything like my parents and said that some of these slang words were not real, and they were added to the dictionary, do they become real words now?
One of the words that has been added to the dictionary in 2025 is a word that seems it be loathed by every adult in existence. I hate to break it to you, but the word "skibidi" is now an official word in the Cambridge Dictionary.

Other words that have been added this year include broligarchy, delulu, tradwife, inspo, and lewk. Most of these words are popular among the Gen Alpha-aged kids born after 2010.
Cambridge Dictionary Expands Language With 6,212 Additions
