Colorado Could be Getting a Few New Zip Codes Next Year
31 new zip codes could soon be created for communities across the United States. According to KDVR, Congress is currently passing a bill to create these new zip codes.
H.R. 8753 is sponsored by Colorado's United States Representative, Lauren Boebert. The new zip codes would direct the United States Postal Service to designate single, unique zip codes for certain communities. The bill was introduced in June and passed through the House of Representatives on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Communities that do not have a unique zip code within the postal service system often experience associated problems that include loss of economic development, loss of sales tax, unjustifiable high insurance rates, tax remittance and commercial licensing issues, diminished public safety and reduced emergency response times, identity issues and efficiency issues.
Said Lauren Boebert.
Where Would the New Zip Codes Be Located in Colorado?
If H.R. 8753 is passed and approved, nearly one dozen Colorado communities would get a unique zip code. These are the communities where a new zip code could be added in Colorado:
- Castle Pines, Colorado
- Centennial, Colorado
- Cherry Hills, Colorado
- Greenwood Village, Colorado
- Highlands Ranch, Colorado
- Lone Tree, Colorado
- Severance, Colorado
- Silver Cliff, Colorado
- Sterling Ranch, Colorado
- Superior, Colorado
Colorado accounts for nearly one-third of all of the new proposed zip codes in the United States. More information on the bill, H.R. 8753 can be seen HERE.
