This new bill is something that I think will be beneficial to many kids here in Colorado. According to 9 News, there is a new bill be introduced in Colorado just last week that would give free mental health access to kids in our state who are having issues after dealing with the unexpected pandemic. This new bill would offer up to three mental health sessions to everyone under the age of 18 years old living in the state of Colorado.

While I love this idea I do wish that it was open beyond just COVID-19 related issues but hopefully this is a good way for kids to be introduced to mental health sessions and they can begin to open up more even beyond the three free sessions.

How Would the Free Mental Health Sessions Work in the State of Colorado

House Bill 21-1258 would require the department of human services to create a website portal to facilitate the requests for mental health sessions no later than May 31st. With so many interruptions to school and social aspects, many people believe this is a necessity. Plus if it helps students, let’s give it a shot.

Mental Health Sessions as a Kid Are a Good Thing

Personally, I had some mental health sessions as a kid when I was 12 years old. I didn’t go for more than a few months but it helped me work out some things talking to someone outside of my family as my parents were going through their divorce. It has truly helped me over the years become a more well-balanced person.
