Don’t Repeat My Mistake When Getting Colorado Vehicle Tags
I don't know about you, but I see a ton of expired tags in Colorado. Not only do I see a lot of outdated vehicle registration stickers, but I see a lot of temporary license plates that are quite expired as well.
At the time of writing, it is February 18. I saw a temporary license plate that expired over three years ago. I saw this vehicle on I-25.
It is surprising to see so many vehicles on the road with tags that expired for long periods of time. Yes, residents of Colorado will pay a fee for either renewing or getting their registration done late.
If you are driving around with expired plates, the fee will go up $25 a month until it reaches a $100 fine. I would say that is extremely considerate compared to other states around the country.

I recently did a vehicle registration renewal. I admit, I made a dumb mistake.
My Dumb Mistake With My Colorado Registration
My registration will expire by the end of the month. I typically go in person to renew. I either go to the DMV or go to a kiosk. I have to admit, the kiosk is much easier.

I received a slip in the mail about two months ago. That slip was a reminder that it was time to renew my registration. Well, I am a bit unorganized when it comes to new mail. That slip was sitting on top of some junk mail and I recently found it.
Colorado Registration Is About to Expire
I renewed my registration online in a panic. I got it done rather quickly and received a notification that my new registration, along with my tags, would not be delivered until the middle of March.
Again, I want to emphasize... This is completely my fault.
So, I guess I am going to be driving around with expired tags for a few weeks. I did receive an online purchase receipt via email, so I have that on hand just in case I get pulled over.
When you receive a slip like I did, it is essential to pay and get your registration done as soon as possible. The earlier you get this done, the less likely you are to end up in a situation like mine.
