Massive Progress Made on Alexander Mountain Fire
A week has passed since the start of the Alexander Mountain Fire in Colorado. Since the beginning of the fire, some days saw the burn area double in size on a couple of occasions.
The Alexander Mountain Fire threatened many homes in the area and forced evacuations of many Larimer County residents. While the fire may have spared some homes and structures, others were not so lucky. It was reported that two dozen homes and structures suffered from destruction or damage to the buildings.
As of Monday morning, the Alexander Mountain Fire burned 9,600 acres and was under 54 percent containment. As the day progressed, so did the fire containment efforts. According to Larimer County, the fire is now at 74 percent containment and 9,668 acres have been burned.
On Monday, August 5, 536 personnel were assigned to the Alexander Mountain Fire. Mandatory evacuation orders in some areas have been downgraded to voluntary evacuations and residents were allowed to return to their homes with proof of address at the roadblock on US Highway 34.
