Massive Pearl Street Fire Affects 83 Apartment Units in Boulder
Crews are battling a Tuesday morning apartment fire on Pearl Street in Boulder, KDVR has reported. At 5:11 a.m., Boulder Fire-Rescue tweeted that crews were on scene of the large fire on the 2300 block of Pearl Street, near downtown Boulder, believed to have started around 3:30 a.m.
Boulder Fire-Rescue said that there were 83 units total affected, however no serious injuries or deaths have been reported.
Boulder Fire-Rescue said that some residents were treated on scene for minor injuries, and KDVR reported that 'one person jumped a short distance from the building and was rescued by an ambulance crew.' The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Red Cross is on scene to assist displaced residents.
The area has remained smoky this morning, the National Weather Service said, however it is expected to clear.
'This smoke is being trapped by an inversion so it is staying very close to the surface,' the National Weather Service tweeted. 'Winds will increase in the next hour or two which will help to disperse the smoke.'
