The City of Loveland's annual Cherry Pie Celebration returns this July,

According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, the Loveland City Council approved a $10,000 appropriation to the Loveland Museum for the annual Cherry Pie Celebration, a celebration of the city’s past as a major producer of the fruit on Tuesday, June 7.

Loveland Love Its Cherries

According to the Loveland Museum's official website, the city of Loveland boasted the largest cherry orchard to the west of the Mississippi River and was famous for producing over $1 million in cherries annually, back in the 1920s.

To best commemorate Loveland’s longstanding connection with the cherry industry, the Loveland Museum hosts the annual Cherry Pie Celebration.

About The Cherry Pie Celebration

This year's Cherry Pie Celebration will be held between Peters Park in Loveland and the Loveland Museum on Saturday, July 16.

As per the museum's website, admission to the Cherry Pie Celebration is free to individuals of all ages, while single-serving portions of cherry pie, ice cream, coffee, and lemonade, will all be available for purchase.

Throughout the celebration, visitors can expect to enjoy live music, vendor booths, children’s activities, and more.

Jennifer Cousino, the Loveland Museum's curator of history told the Loveland Reporter-Herald that this summer's celebration will be the first “full-blown” celebration of its kind since 2019, as the event was canceled in 2020, and then strictly scaled back in 2021.

“We had a very, very mini Cherry Pie Festival last year,” Cousino said. “We sold pieces of cherry pie with Pastel’s on Fifth.”

While past celebration attendees will be delighted to see many of the same offerings from years past, the only thing not coming back for this year's Cherry Pie Celebration is the pie baking contest, which is reportedly on hold for another year.

According to the museum's website, those interested in sponsoring or having a vendor booth at this summer's Cherry Pie Celebration can contact Jenni Dobson at the Loveland Museum via email at jenni.dobson@cityofloveland.org.
